Hi Mike and I do appreciate your input. Yeah, it is meandering, and there's a reason for it, at least in this book. Real people's lives, especially those of boys, are very often like rivers, mixing slow and fast parts, just moving toward the sea. I just felt that I wanted this book to be about the lives the way real boys could live them, at least the boys I invented. As for the profanities, well, I tried as best I can (even though I'm old and some of the slang expressions I use may have gone out in the 70's) to mirror how kids really talk and interact. Yeah, not always pretty or perfect, but well, from my track & field days I certainly remember how our team's captain was! I appreciate your reading what you have, and if at any time you feel like coming back, well, it'll be here! |
