In the whole twelve year history of BoyWrite there has never been such a prolonged period when the integrity of the index has been so severely damaged. Even the concerted efforts of trolls - admittedly easy to manage with the admin tools - never achieved this. My own view and I think this was shared by most others is that Boywrite showcases creative writing on the subject of boys, boylovers and boylove. It has never been a chat forum, or a forum where meta issues predominate. It has also been a forum where certain rules of courtesy seem to have become established. When I managed it I did so with the lightest of hands being of the oldest school which photosynethesized in the light of the Alexis Principle. I wanted the WRITING to speak for the board nothing else. I cleaned all the rules off the index, took away unnecessary buttons, etc. In the end when you went to BoyWrite what you first saw was the creative writing of its contributors. I kept it like that for six years. My spat with the FSC was over their decision to impose an advert for fundraising on top of the index. This was mostly my fault because I had been too slow to respond to a request for such an ad and this probably gave an impression (which might not have been that untrue) that I saw BoyWrite as my own baby. I also accept management badly and have a history of disagreement with the FSC after I quit it in 2000. It was also time for someone new to take over. No board should become the property of one person. Now back to the present. I note with concern that Dreamer has NOT posted any more sections of his narrative and hope that this isn't due to all the controversy. I am not commenting on the quality or otherwise of his writing or its content. He has a right to use BoyWrite as a vehicle for the expression of his literary identity. I think that the biggest problem that BoyWrite has had to deal with recently is Jim who I am going to address directly. Jim, you can't take an individual dislike to someone or something and then hound them in a vendetta of persecution on ANY board let alone BoyWrite. Have you noticed that no-one else has agreed with you? And how dare you use foul language and such an aggressive tone while posting here? You did provoke Hulann who is a gentler soul. Your style is way too aggressive and confrontational. Do you have any idea how much vestigal power you have as a "founder" member of this community - and senior player in its affairs for so long. I actually remember when you came in an activist newbie quite timid but full of energy and ideas and I have always been one of your greatest admirers both on the boards and in real life during the ocassions when we met personally. So what gives? You need to rein in your temper and excercise a great deal more self-control. You are out of order. Your lowest moment actually is here where in these words you threaten Dusk/Heather in a very nasty way ... "I just realized that you recentlt responded to me on BC as "Dusk" without mentioning to me that you are actually Heather. That was horribly rude and inconsiderate of you. I'm not sure why you did it but don't think I'll forget it." Now really. Was that neccesary at all? Now enough of all this bullshit BoyWrite is suffering because of the crap you created. What needs to happen is simple. 1. The index needs tidying up. 2. Dreamer's posts and any other long serialisations need collating into one thread and or one post. He can do it but if he can't or won't then the board should imnsho. 3. Meta Boywrite needs setting up and all the crapola plus the good stuff needs moving to it. Newer Boywrite webmasters can use this as a vehicle to grow into their job and explore new ideas. 4. Jim needs to apologise to Boywrite, Dreamer and possibly Dusk/Heather. 5. Boywrite needs a webmaster. I am not willing to resume my duties - I have moved on but what I will offer somewhat reluctantly is to take up a temporary role as webmaster until the FSC/BoyWrite (through meta BW) or I, myself, can find a satisfactory replacement. with much love ~kabby
