A Long Walk

I'll take a nice long walk,
leaving on a jet-plane fueled
with the drive of a running man.
Don't know when I'll return,
or if I should or can,

I'll pretend there's someone beside me,
a sweet soul I knew once in a dreamer's life,
when we just boys,
and dreams were the future,
and I was unafraid.

I'll pretend there's somewhere worth going,
retracing the steps deep inside my mind,
a place I can call home again, somehow
a life worth living, somehow
a life out there for a lifeless soul,

Now my world is as dark as the night outside,
So I'll just head out into the storm,
where the trees cast shadows,
and I can be one with the dark,
and wish my world away.

Now the anger flows with nowhere to go,
and so I walk in circles,
hating the world around and around,
or mabye its just me I hate
when I look and see my friends are gone.

Now those I believed in cast wicked shadows,
and those I truely loved could never understand,
and when the world unravels every which way,
from the top and the bottom and the sides,
it can't decide how to hurt me fast enough...

So I escape unscathed into the night,
and challenge the shadows,
fight to feel him beside me,
and pretend I see the sun
