It was in your eyes, so tender did they sing,
That I was lost upon a crashing shore.
It was in you hair, a shimmering of gold,
That the world seemed smooth and comforting.
The times would could have had together,
The joys we could have had in time.
It was the burning in my chest,
That overjoyed me so to dream it possible.
To think only of you in my life,
Was all I needed to strive further.
Though we never met, nor breathed the same air,
I will love thee eternally in my heart.
At times I cried for release of the burden,
I could only but cry in joy of your beauty.
It was for sure a dream to be wished.
But never could this happen in this world,
I could dream, a dream of happiness,
Where I could hold you in my arms.
As a rose blooming upon a singing brook,
I could love you no more than I do.
